Patricio Guzmán is the founder and director of the International Documentary Film Festival of Santiago (FIDOCS 1997-2006).
Each year, the festival is prepared simultaneously by two teams: one in Santiago and another in Paris.
The projections take place in Cine Hoyts of La Reina neighborhood, the theater of the Goethe Institut and in the National Cinematheque of Santiago.
So far, this competition has exhibited 464 documentary works from all over the world.

"I wanted to show Santiago audiences the wide range of documentaries that I have been lucky to see and appreciate in my life living abroad, but more than anything, I wanted to show them to the young Chilean directors and producers, since for many years, not a single local television channel showed this enormous European production. In contrast, my generation had a different experience. In the fifties and sixties, when I was a youth, many important documentary works arrived in Chile. But after the military coup, Chile lost all contact with the worldwide production of documentaries." PG
